This is our Bermudian All Spice Traffic Warden. Wearing standard summer uniform of Bermuda shorts, socks and short sleeved shirt with a high vis vest and cap. They are also known here as Special Constables.
They are responsible for guiding the traffic at busy times of the day (like rush hour), funeral, public events and the Convening of Parliament. Most often seen performing their duties in the City of Hamilton, the surrounding districts and the Town of St. George’s – they ensure compliance and enforcement of established laws here in Bermuda.
They also monitors unsafe or improper road markings, improper or lack of signage as well as investigating illegal parking, unregistered vehicles and abandoned vehicles. As well as analyzing road use and traffic movement patterns to develop strategies to facilitate the easy flow of traffic.
So they do a lot to help keep us safe not just handing out parking tickets!
We are a spicy little nation. Full of interesting and colourful characters. This collection highlights all the individual workers who make up and look after Bermuda. Keeping us safe, keeping us healthy, making us smile, sharing their happiness. We thank them for their service.
Part of our All Spice Bermudian collection.
Each All Spice Bermudian comes with a short paragraph about their workplace and their job printed on the back of the card, stuck on with icing, heat sealed in compostable, plant based ‘plastic’.
