Bermuda Bluebirds were here on Bermuda when the first settlers arrived in the early 1600’s. Highly abundant until the scale insect devastated the cedar forests. They now rely mainly on bird boxes when nesting, with a few finding homes in old trees. The Bermuda Bluebirds eat garden insects and can be seen in woodlands and around large grass areas.
One of our most fragile species due to their declining numbers from many predators. Bright blue feathers adorn their backs with orange and grey chests.
