The Rainbow Parrotfish is one of Bermuda’s most colourful and charismatic reef fish, often seen swimming amongst coral reefs and seagrass beds in brilliant shades of blue, green, pink and yellow. Named for their parrot-like beak, these fascinating fish use their strong teeth to scrape algae from rocks and coral, helping to keep Bermuda’s reefs healthy and balanced. Rainbow Parrotfish also play an important role in creating Bermuda’s famous pink sand beaches, as the coral they nibble is naturally broken down into fine sand. Growing up to four feet long, they are a vibrant and essential part of Bermuda’s underwater world.
